Snap.do Virus Removal

Snap.do is a malicious redirection virus and browser hijacker that modifies your browser’s homepage, default search engine and causes redirects of webpages.

Snap.do IE

Search.snap.do may look like a legitimate website created to assist users with their search sessions. However, security experts and malware researchers started to classify this threat as browser hijacker due to its constant redirections to potentially unwanted websites.

Once installed, Snap.do changes your DNS settings and hijacks the main browsers like Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Firefox. That results in continuous redirections to domain search.snap.do. This browser hijacker virus is spread by using spam e-mail attachments, freeware or shareware programs.

Snap.do collects and stores all information about internet users activity, logs every visited website. All gathered data is sent to marketing companies. The company that is responsible for developing Snap.do adware, pays a certain amount per install for their affiliates, and this is the reason why it is exploited by so many online marketers.

These companies that hijack our computers with their malware like snap.do need to be prosecuted as terrorists. It IS a form of cyber-terrorism when these people invade our computers without invitation. Complain to your congress people and demand that Homeland Security Dept investigate these companies. I’ll be happy to provide a list off companies that I will never do business with again – including the companies that allow these pirates to slip in on requested downloads.

I acquired snap.do by downloading the program Free file wiper from Myportablesoftware.com I am usually quite careful but I missed this one. I only got suspicious when it took so long to install. As soon as it had, I tried to restore Windows, but after a long 2 hours, this failed. Three programs were installed, my home page changed and my desktop wallpaper. What was worrying was not knowing exactly what had been changed on my computer and information stolen. The people who distribute this garbage should be put in prison. I lost a whole night’s sleep because of this. In future I will run downloaded software in a Sandbox first.

I installed spy hunter and although it is very good at removing snap.do and most other stuff, it does not remove it completely. I am now running 3 or 4 scans per day, which takes up serious time. Within 10 minutes of it being removed it is back? It is driving me crazy, how can i get rid of it and keep it away. It is obviously still in my pc somewhere?

  29. Alison Kirk says:
